Homage to Money Paper
Pere Colom's series based on international currencies
is a tribute to worldwide currency, wich has come under threat
from alternative payment methods, such as the credit cards,
or from economic developements,
such as the introduction of the Euro in 2002,
which "wipe out" 15 currencies at once.
Traditionally, bank notes are designed by an engraving technique,
which has inspired Colom to use a thick hand made paper
as the support for his photographic works.
None of these images are
manipulated by computers.
Using a polaroid transfer or photo emulsions,
each work is unique.
